Blogging can be used in many ways. It's surprising to see how many people could be interested in what you have to say. Blog accounts can help individuals collaborate and network. Twitter is another effective way to communicate with people around the world. 140 characters may not seem like a lot, but its enough to get your point across. Twitter can help summarize your feelings or what ever happened during the day. It's a great way to express yourself. If ever you had an assignment that involved contacting people around the world, Twitter or Blog sites would be the way to go. 

Designing for Learners

When your designing a lesson you should always know what kind of audience will be attending the course. This will allow you to determine what style of teaching is needed. Instruction of the lesson should not be hard to follow. Students need to comprehend the lesson. If the audience consist of teenagers to adults then you must accommodate for both. People who want a great learning experience must have an instructor thats willing to spend time to know his or hers students. When trust is established in the classroom, learning becomes an easier task. 

Myths about online courses

When I found out about UNT's Applied Technology & Performance Improvement major and how it was mainly online that got me to apply. I thought that online courses would be a stroll in the park. My first semester at UNT I signed up for 12 hours online, thinking that all four of these classes would be easy A's. No, almost everyday of the week I was online participating in discussions and submitting assignments. I took a Technical Presentations course that I will never forget. Two 30 minute long presentations in front of an audience. Not all online courses are guaranteed A's.

I'm currently taking an Advanced Computer Applications class this semester. I thought I could do the first assignment in a few hours, I was wrong. One thing about online courses is you must give yourself time to complete an assignment. Waiting two hours before the assignment is due will only result in a low grade. Although some students work well under pressure, you want time to check for errors. To be honest I love my online courses. I grasp more out of these courses then I did courses on campus. 

Copyright & Fair Use

Copyright law has to do with exclusive legal rights for authors of material for an extended period of time. The law protects work or parts of work that my be distributed or performed such as showing a movie, playing an audio recording or acting out some ones work. I like the idea behind copyright laws. It gives the owner ownership of their work. As a music producer I have to be careful with what music I use. Fair use law is another law I stand behind. It allows teachers or students to use other peoples material for educational purposes. When using some one else's  material in a lecture of performance, its all ways best to contact the original owner of the material you are copying. 

 I found a case involving the copyright and fair use law. Eldred vs. Ashcroft was the court case. Eric Eldred had made an archive of old literature on the internet and was having legal issues with having the site up. Eric said in an interview that "old books, songs, and movies should flow continuously into the public domain". I agree, you should be able to access such materials. As long as there is no downloading or re-selling of the material is going on then it should be ok. In Eldred's case he has to prove why his works are in order with fair use law.  Eldred lost the case in 2001. Lawrence Lessig, Eldred's lawyer said that the material is protected for a limited period of time. But with the copyright term extension act they may be able to extend the rights to unlimited protection.

Test & Typical day online

I found the test very informative. I didn't agree with all the results but they were pretty dead on. It said I was an auditory learner. I like to listen but feel I learn better visually.A typical day online for me is checking my e-mail and checking my 6 classes I have online. Im online everyday till the end of the semester. I like the internet, you can network in so many ways.
